In the week that began with Ettore Messina‘s resignation, Zeljko Obradovic‘s also arrived. Since yesterday he is no longer officially the head coach of Partizan.
The official note:
“Zeljko Obradovic has rejected the offer to continue working at KK Partizan. The outgoing coach remained firm in his decision not to withdraw his resignation because he doesn’t see himself working with the current team, as well as the impact that daily work at this level has on his health”.
It continues: “Coach Obradovic was offered full and unequivocal support to continue working and take all the necessary measures to help the team overcome the current crisis in terms of results”.
The reasons:
For several weeks the situation in the Serbian capital had been at odds, the coach’s statements after the defeat against ASVEL smacked of an ultimatum to his players, who however did not understand it. Home defeat against Fenerbahce and external defeat against Panathīnaïkos, the following day he resigned.
According to the Serbian press there would be irrecoverable situations in the relationship between the coach and some players, so much so that the ownership would be willing to “redo the roster” in order to retain Obradovic.
